The agentEZ Main Screen

The left-hand panel on the main screen is called Databases, and from here you use checkboxes to select the databases you'd like to work with.
Once a selection is made, the selected databases will be listed in the Grid pane on the upper right-hand side of agentEZ. You'll find the Output panel on the lower right-hand side of agentEZ, this is used to display logged information such as errors.

NOTE

Because of performance considerations, agent information, such as the run-on, the schedule, and the signer, isn't automatically loaded in the Grid pane. Users can either select items and click Ctrl + L  to load agent information or select Automatically Load Detailed Agent Information in the Options menu.

TIP

You can click the Filter button on column headers to narrow down the list of items displayed.

Menu options

File
  • Open Server Ctrl+O: You'll need to choose a server before you begin using agentEZ.
  • Sign and Save All Modified Ctrl+S: Changes made in agentEZ will be marked with a pencil icon but won't be enacted until you click Ctrl+S or choose this option.
  • Export: This option lets you export a text or HTML report on server agent information.
  • Save Database Selection: This option will save the current selection of databases in the Database panel to a Ytria XML file for future use.
  • Save Agent Selection: This option will save both the current selection of databases in the Database panel and any agents selected in the grid to a Ytria XML file for future use.
  • Load Saved Selection: This allows you to load a Ytria XML file to restore a saved selection of databases (or databases and agents).
  • Save Subset of Properties for Selection (formerly 'Save Key Properties for Selection'): This option will save the current selection of databases along with their 'key' property settings. By 'key properties,' we mean: all settings related to agent scheduling (i.e. the settings in the ‘Runtime Properties’ dialog; ‘Run on’ settings; enabled/disabled statuses; ‘Run on behalf of..’ settings; and the ‘Runtime security level’ setting, to a Ytria XML file for future use (e.g. for use with the 'Restore Agent Properties' command).

  • Restore Agent Properties: This allows you to load a Ytria XML file which contains the information that is described in the 'Save Subset of Properties for Selection' command description above. You might want to save and restore agent properties if you are performing a design refresh that affect a number of agent settings.
  • Themes: Lets you change agentEZ's skin.
  • Favorite Servers: This feature lets you keep a list of favorite servers. Servers added to this list will be shared between aclEZ and agentEZ (if you have both products installed). Click here to read more about this feature.
  • Exit: Quit agentEZ.

Panels
  • Here you can choose which panels will be displayed on the screen (All three are shown by default):
    • Databases
    • Output
    • Agent Timeline
    • Grid Data Composition

Search
  • You can use these options to perform searches, including searches by regular expression.
    • Find All... Ctrl + F3
    • Find First... Ctrl + F
    • Find Next F3

Options
  • Read Database Immediately Upon Selection: If this option is selected, a list of agents will appear in the Grid pane as soon as an item is selected in the Database panel.
  • Read Database Only When 'Apply' Button is Clicked: If this option is selected, a user must make his or her checkbox selection in the Database panel, then click the Apply button before the list of agent will load in the Grid pane. This option may be helpful if you are working with a slow connection. Also, whenever you use a Database Selection Filter to make a selection, this option will automatically be engaged.
  • Database Files: These options allow you to change how files are listed in the Database panel.
    1. Show Title (e.g: Demo1's Address Book)
    2. Show File Name (eg: names.nsf)
    3. Show Title - File (e.g: Demo1's Address Book -- names.nsf)
    4. Show File - Title (e.g: names.nsf -- Demo1's Address Book)
  • Log Type: Here you can choose what gets displayed in the Output panel.
  • Automatically Load Information: Use this option if you'd like agentEZ to load all agent information automatically. This can have an adverse affect on performance.
  • Force Designer Access to Edit Agents / Use Notes API Security: Our testing found that certain versions of the Notes API (up to ND R7) allow users to edit agents in cases where their Access Level should prevent them from doing so (i.e. the user is not a Designer or Manager). This can sometimes unexpectedly cause agents not to run. The Force Designer Access to Edit Agents option makes agentEZ strictly adhere to Notes security and prevents non-designers and non-managers from editing agents. Starting with IBM Lotus Notes and Domino R8, the Notes API will no longer allow non-designers to edit agents.
  • Full Access Administration: This enables 'Full Access Adminstration' in agentEZ.
