Ready, Aim, Fire: Mastering the Latest in the Administrator's Arsenal

If you don't want to be left behind when it comes to efficiently administering your servers, staying armed with the newest weapons is crucial. Recent IBM releases have incorporated a staggering number of new features; yet despite all these great opportunities to increase both our effectiveness and productivity, workload and time constraints often coax us into sticking to our old ways of working. During this in-depth problem/solution formatted session, we'll discuss (by way of customer examples and real-world scenarios) some of the latest and greatest features for administering IBM Domino, IBM iNotes, and IBM Traveler. We'll share our best practices that allowed us to successfully solve architecture challenges that we've faced in critical areas such as security, mail routing, replication, web/mobile capabilities, and more.

All the Meat You Need to Beef Up Your Domino Security

It goes without saying that IBM Domino has established itself as a powerful collaboration platform. It also provides you with a LOT of flexibility when it comes to securing your data (a business aspect that gains more importance every single day). However, with great flexibility comes a great amount of potential bottlenecks. As administrators and developers, it is vital that we understand the low-level mechanisms that help us secure our servers, applications, and documents from both the web and client sides. During this in this in-depth session, we will discuss a large variety of topics such as ACL tricks & secrets, server security, encryption options, securing agents, documents, designs, and more. We'll talk about common yet little-known obstacles; and we'll dissect worst practices to give you a better understanding of what can go wrong. You'll come away from this high-protein buffet with enough meat, in the form of best practices and solutions, to help you thoroughly understand your current environment setup, spot security risks, and prevent data breaches.

Mastering Your Logs: Everything You Should Know About Logging in IBM Domino

Proper monitoring and logging of what happens in your Domino environment is critically important for both security and performance. In order to get the most out of your log data in the event that things go wrong, it's vital to understand its structure, what is (or isn't) logged and how, and the ways to effectively search logs. During this in-depth session, we will explore the inner workings of various Domino logging mechanisms by dissecting the structure of log event documents (e.g. Replication, Usage Session, User Activity, Miscellaneous, etc.). You'll learn: how to deal with verbose logging, solutions for monitoring bottlenecks, retention best practices, etc.; you'll also gain knowledge of behind-the-scenes data such as status codes and how best to use them. You will walk away from this presentation with a solid understanding of your log architecture, the means to set up notifications for signaling when things go wrong, and a faster process for finding what you're looking for.

From Frustration to Fascination: Dissecting Replication

Replication is a core pillar of the IBM Notes/Domino architecture. Whether you're and administrator or developer, replication plays an integral role in your life. And let's face it, this relationship its ups and downs. In this presentation we'll reveal some hard facts:
  • How the underpinnings of replication work
  • What can go wrong
  • How to setup and manage selective replication (and why you'd want to)
  • How to best consolidate cluster and standard replication
  • How to benefit from PIRC
  • What traps to look for and how to get out of them should you be caught
  • What impact server/database security and field level encryption have
  • And more!
Learn about tips, tricks, and code that will help you debug and tackle the toughest replication problems (conflicts, ghosts, inconsistencies, etc….) like a pro. We'll share numerous stories, best practices, and mistakes to help you solve (or prevent) problems like selective replication anomalies, deletion stubs, parent/response problems, and more. At the end of this session, you will walk away with an in-depth understanding of how the replication engine works; you'll be ready to turn this sometimes tumultuous relationship into a happy and harmonious one.

Real-world Administration Solutions: A Hands-on Guide to Ytria's EZ Suite Tools

After over 10 years of developing helpful tools for IBM Domino Administrators and Developers, we continue to talk to hundreds of customers and assist them in tackling interesting, tedious, and annoying problems every week. In this presentation, we'll dive straight into a troublesome live environment. Once there, we'll demonstrate how we find, evaluate, and resolve the toughest problems administrators face on a daily basis. You'll see us use Ytria tools to quickly gain a better understanding of Log.nsf, identify and fix inconsistent replicas, discover and patch security holes, analyze application usage, and more.
