With our official release date for replicationEZ fast approaching, we would like to thank our beta testers for trying out our newest software tool. Our developers have been hard at work putting the finishing touches, but overall, we received a lot of positive feedback making us even more excited to release one of our best software products to the market. We’ve had some invaluable suggestions on features that we have incorporated into the product’s development pipeline. We’ve also had some requests for quick start documentation – this will be available on the release date.

Comparing two or more replicas |
When we first conceptualized replicationEZ, we wanted it to respond to the number one question we always had regarding replication: what is being replicated, and where? How many replicas do I have for a specific database? What databases did I replicate from server A to server B, and which ones do I still need to replicate? This feature and its associated questions prompted us to develop replicationEZ with its multi-server interface, and understandably, it’s also the functionality that received the most positive feedback from our beta testers. |
The discover replicas feature is based on a unique method to search for and find ALL direct and indirect replicas associated with the currently selected database. Our beta testers agree that the graphical interface for this feature is just great! Not only do you get a global view of all your replicas, but our replica status colour scheme gives you an indication whether the discovered replicas are still ‘alive’ or not. |
Naturally, replicationEZ enables you to compare replicas on various levels: you can examine database properties, document and design counts for selected replicas (to see if there are any content differences), and you can also use the “Compare ACL” feature that lets you quickly find ACL discrepancies between your replicas. |
One beta tester summarized it best – thanks Amy!

In a matter of minutes, replicationEZ was able to identify that my customer had replicas that were not deleted properly on the backup server, new applications that were rolled out and never clustered and a couple of applications with significantly different document counts. Wow! When rolling out a new cluster, moving databases within a cluster or checking the health of a Domino cluster, my tool of choice is replicationEZ.

Consultant Thomas Lang thinks of Ytria’s EZ Suite as the tools-of-the-trade for Notes/Domino professionals, comparable to what tradespeople rely on to do quality work: “When you call an electrician, you hope that he shows up to your home with good tools,” he explains. But when he first considered buying this productivity-boosting software, he wondered if the speed gains might lead to reduced billable hours. Now he has no such concerns. Instead, he credits the EZ Suite toolkit for helping his business grow—the tools allow him to accept bigger client projects with the confidence of knowing he’ll get the job done swiftly and correctly.

How to transform a working weekend into Viva Las Vegas!
Working on a weekend is a common sacrifice among dedicated system administrators, but missing a best friend's wedding in Las Vegas because of database replication issues and ticket backlogs is simply unacceptable! Sometimes daily tasks start coming in at the most inopportune times, and worse still, some of these, like server management or server-wide replication problems turn out to be issues where the standard "Notes" approach proves to be time consuming and lacking a much needed global overview. Using scenarios from the field, Ben Menesi will demonstrate how Ytria EZ Software tools saved enough time to fly out of the office on a Friday afternoon and into the best bachelor party ever. |
