Secrets That Are Guaranteed To Save You Time

How can I restore deleted documents (deleting deletion stubs)?

NOTE: Our ‘Tips and Tricks’ section has been superseded by the Ytria Tech Lab. Archived tips are still being kept here for reference purposes. Please check the Ytria Tech Lab frequently for all the latest tips, tricks and tutorials to help you get the most out of your Ytria toolkit.

Every so often, we get questions concerning deletion stubs, "What is a deletion stub?" or "How can I recover a document that has been deleted, from a deletion stub?"

A deletion stub simply means that a document has been deleted. The stub is a way for Lotus Notes to "remember" that a document has been deleted from the database. The deletion stub itself, does not contain document information.

The only way to get another copy of the document, is to obtain a replicate copy in the next replication cycle.

This can be done by deleting the deletion stub itself, however this will only work if the document still exists on some other replication database. If a replication cycle occurs before you can delete the deletion stub, it will delete the document instead of providing a replicate copy.

Deleting deletion stubs with scanEZ is as simple as a point and click (see image below).
