Secrets That Are Guaranteed To Save You Time

How can I find a string in Lotus Notes column formulas?

NOTE: Our ‘Tips and Tricks’ section has been superseded by the Ytria Tech Lab. Archived tips are still being kept here for reference purposes. Please check the Ytria Tech Lab frequently for all the latest tips, tricks and tutorials to help you get the most out of your Ytria toolkit.

First make sure viewEZ is running. If it's not, select any Lotus Notes database (email, personal address book, application etc.) on your workspace, and click the viewEZ icon on your Lotus Notes client toolbar.

  1. In the first viewEZ window, select the design elements you want to examine using the checkboxes.
  2. Click the Columns... button and the Columns window opens with all your database columns displayed and organized by design element.
  3. Click the menu item, Search > Search for a String in Column Formulas... to open the Search window.
  4. Type in a string that you want to search for and click OK.

You are now finished! The search results are now displayed:
- Revealing the number of columns found (Click OK to close the message box) and
- The specific columns (now tagged) that contain the search string

Watch a short Flash tutorial for a quick overview of viewEZ and all its features.
