During a design refresh, if an agent has been modified in any way, then the information in the target agent will be 100% reset by the template (and use whatever settings are in the template).

Often this means that the enablement and the "run on server" properties will be reset in the refreshed database. Other database specific properties such as its schedule or "run on behalf of" can also be reset.

We reveal how with agentEZ you can take a custom snapshot of a set of selected agents (defined by you) and re-select them easily. In this tip, we will simply look for Enabled agents, and then load the snapshot to easily re-select those same agents—which can be quite useful, since the Enabled property may change after a design refresh.

First make sure agentEZ is running. If it's not, click the agentEZ icon on your Lotus Notes client toolbar and select a server.

  1. Select the databases you are interested in and click the Apply button to retrieve the relevant data within them.
  2. Select and highlight all the desired agents displayed in the grid. Press Ctrl+L to load agent details.
  3. With the agents now selected and details loaded, group the agents by the Enabled column header.
  4. Now that the agents are nicely grouped for you, select the Enabled agents all and go to File > Save Agent Selection and save the XML file.
  5. Save agent selection in agentEZ
  6. With the saved XML file you can now load it in agentEZ at any time File > Load Saved Selection. If for example, a refresh occurs you can now easily retrieve the previously enabled agents (as shown in this example) and enable them once again.
  7. To enable the agents select all the agents to be enabled, and in the right-click menu choose: Enable
